Overview
BFNA’s Congressional European Parliamentary Initiative (CEPI) is a transatlantic fellowship now in its twelfth year. Each year, the fellowship convenes transatlantic policymakers over a period of two weeks, split between the United States and Europe. They heard from experts on topics ranging from transnational AI governance to the role of AI in climate change mitigation. Fellows were asked to contribute articles on relevant topics to be included in a compendium that was designed by Xhilarate.

Engage
AI is a relevant and controversial topic that impacts philosophy, the economy, our society, and geopolitics…to name a few. Thirteen fellows contributed thought leadership pieces that fell within one of these four topic areas. Xhilarate created an overall look and feel for the compendium and applied it to the cover and to each of the 13 articles. While the goal was to create a cohesive design for the publication, we also wanted to achieve clear differentiation between each “chapter” to engage the reader with each turn of the page.
Excite
The half human, half robotic cover image creates a level of excitement and anticipation before one even turns a page. As the look and feel is carried throughout the entire publication, the reader never gets bored as each chapter takes on a look of its own creating a level of excitement and anticipation. The mixed use of photography and illustration also helps to infuse excitement throughout.
Inspire
As if the subject matter alone isn’t inspiring—The Human Program, A Transatlantic AI Agenda for Reclaiming Our Digital Future—the imagery selected to bring the subject matter to life throughout the compendium inspires the reader on a multitude of levels. This is especially true as Xhilarate selected imagery that both reinforces and brings the content to life.
